and the opening of my lips shall be right things." (Proverbs 8:6)
Proverbs 8:1-10
( OLD TESTAMENT )
Proverbs 8:1–10 (KJV)
(1) Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
(2) She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
(3) She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
(4) Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
(5) O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
(6) Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
(7) For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
(8) All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
(9) They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
(10) Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
Summary:
Wisdom speaks like a living, calling presence — crying out publicly, openly, in every place where people gather. She invites all, especially the simple and the foolish, to listen and gain understanding. Wisdom promises truth, righteousness, and clarity. The passage ends with a powerful reminder: wisdom is far more valuable than wealth.
Meaning:
Wisdom Actively Seeks Us
Wisdom is not hidden. She cries out, stands on high places, enters cities, calls at doors — meaning God makes wisdom available to anyone willing to listen.
Wisdom Doesn’t Whisper — She Calls
This is not a quiet suggestion but an urgent, public cry. A divine summons.
Wisdom Belongs to Everyone
Not just scholars or holy men. Even “the simple” and “fools” are invited to become wise.
Wisdom Speaks Truth and Righteousness
God’s wisdom never deceives, never twists, never manipulates.
Wisdom Is Priceless
More valuable than silver or gold — because wisdom guides how to live, love, decide, and survive.
Poetic Reflections:
Wisdom is portrayed as a woman with a commandingvoice — gentle yet powerful, offering light in a world that often moves blindly.
She doesn’t wait for seekers; she confronts wanderers.
Where life’s roads cross, where decisions are made, wisdom stands there first.
Her words are simple to those whose hearts are open, but confusing to the proud.
She speaks not to enrich your pocket, but to evolve your soul.
